Build your home
By Corey Han • Jun 27th, 2008 • Category: FeaturesChoosing a builder is not as easy as you think! With today’s many different lifestyles, family and individual needs, Cobblestone Lake offers a huge list of builders to choose from. When selecting a builder, one has a lot to consider. Craftmanship, reputation, costs, materials, lot selection, time frames, communication, work crews, floor plans and the list goes on and on. Some people like to tackle this alone and others seek professional experience to guide them through, which ever is your style, take the time to ask the tough questions and find out about the builder. The time you invest up front will pay off at the end.

When buying our townhouse we went straight to the builder instead of using a realtor. Now that I look back I wish we would have found someone with experience to help us ask those hidden questions that you may not think about. We were so excited to be purchasing our first home, that we overlooked many important things. I also think we would have been able to possibly get a better deal on the home if we would have used someone that knew how to negotiate.
Getting a better deal is sometimes true, sometimes it is not. What is really important is having someone on your side that helps you along with the negotiation process, that is what is truly important. Instead of going straight to the builder because they want to sell you a house, they might miss some important things along the way. I want to reiterate that is not always the case, there are some GREAT builder representatives out there, don’t get me wrong but having representation on your side is the best way to go about it
