Saving Money

To our readers who want to save money…anyone can press for deals while building their new home. You just need to know how and where in the process you can get those deals. Negotiating can be a timid process for some and not for others. Builders will sometimes be firm on the price but give upgrades for no additional costs, such as granite counters, upgraded appliances, hardware, lighting, jacuzzi tubs, even as much as bay windows, walk outs, third car garage if the lot allows for it. You should always be clear on what you ar looking for and be up front from the get go.

As far as saving additional money, if using a licensed Realtor, in most cases there are no commission fees for representing the buyer in the transaction, be it new construction or existing homes. The commission is paid for by the builder or seller of the home. Realtors have a good knowledge on the resale potential as well, so assistance in lot selection, floor plans and even landscaping is a good idea. Plus it doesn’t cost you anyting so why not let them do some of the work!
